The  RABBATH'CASE by Olivier
Still IN PROGRESS... not
easy to gather feed back
from all bassist after a
decade of using the Rabbath
Case
Bassist who bought the hard shell case a decade
ago are answering important questions.
All answers are true and are here to give you an
idea about this Flight case after intensive use.
All comments were taking in consideration and those
weakness are today resolved.
Thanks for your input and feedback. Very important
for improving constantly:

1- Did you have ANY broken parts on your bass during
    transportation using the case?

Yes but not because of the case. The bass has been taken
out of the case by US customs and they had accident With
    it

2- Did you have the neck broken on your bass using the
    flight case?

    No

3- Do you feel your bass is safe when using your flight
    case?

In general yes. But you NEVER feel complitely safe
    travelling With a bass

4- Did you see your flight case badly manipulated by TSA
    agents or customs?

Not see but -  see answer to question 1

5- Do you still feel confident that your instrument is safe
    in your flight case?

    Yes in general

6- Did the case hardware ever break?

The screws to the Locks and the rubber Locks itselves has
    been knocked off

7- Did the case itself get damaged ever after all of these
    years?

Not the case but see answer to 7

8- Are you satisfied by your flight case overall?

    Yes

9- What improvement would you like to see on your flight
    case?

I have changed the Wheels (different sizes)  to get better
Balance  of the case when rolling it With the bass inside
DAN STYFFE

1- Did you have ANY broken parts on your bass during
    transportation using the case?

Usually one of the plastic closures that the latches secure
around in order to close the case break off during a
flight. Some of the plastic used to protect the case has
broken off as well and recently one of the hinge pins also
    was lost (easily replaceable)

2- Did you have the neck broken on your bass using the
    flight case?

    Luckily no broken neck!

3- Do you feel your bass is safe when using your flight
    case?

I feel as though it is secure, and as long as I'm the one
opening the case for TSA there has not been one problem
    with breaks or anything.

4- Did you see your flight case badly manipulated by TSA
    agents or customs?

Yes, throwing it on the tables and conveyer belts.

5- Do you still feel confident that your instrument is safe
    in your flight case?

During the time absolutely not! But after opening the case
and inspecting my instrument it was fine so I was relieved.

6- Did the case hardware ever break?

Yes, the latches break every time I fly, you have nicely
given me some replacement nibs but I'm almost running out
of those as well. The plastic feet have also broken off of
the bottom and I recommend metal washers for the
screws instead of screwing directly into the case, the
screws have ripped out of the case and finding
replacements for those is relatively difficult.

7- Did the case itself get damaged ever after all of
    these years?

I've had my case for almost 10 years and have flown with
it over 40 times, and besides what I have already
mentioned, the case is still in really great shape and likely
has 30/40 more flights to go before it needs any serious
repairs. The paint always gets worse but that is also an
    easy fix.

8- Are you satisfied by your flight case overall?

I am! I love the weight and simplicity of it

9- What improvement would you like to see on your flight
    case?

A more permanent paint would be really wonderful. After
one or two trips the case looks like it's been through war
and back. Washer reinforcements on the screws is also a
big one and possibly less flimsy closure anchors? (Not sure
    of the proper name)

    Love the case!

1- Did you have ANY broken parts on your bass during
    transportation using the case?

Yes a side rib. Maybe tsa didn't strap in correctly,
also took a hit by baggage handlers.

2- Did you have the neck broken on your bass using the
    flight case?

    No

3- Do you feel your bass is safe when using your flight
    case?

    Somewhat - it's still a gamble!

4- Did you see your flight case badly manipulated by TSA
    agents or customs?

    Probably

5- Do you still feel confident that your instrument is safe
    in your flight case?

    90%

6- Did the case hardware ever break?

Some of it, but I found different parts that last longer

7- Did the case itself get damaged ever after all of
    these years?

No significant damage - very sturdy

8- Are you satisfied by your flight case overall?

Pretty much, I use it for non-flight travel - like bus or
shipments on my main bass, and fly with my less expensive
    instruments in it now.

9- What improvement would you like to see on your flight
    case?

    Don't know how it's possible, but a more fool-proof
assembly for tsa. Might require the soft case to be
fitted for the straps inside or something...
